Dame Vivienne Westwood is an English fashion designer and business woman, largely responsible for bringing punk and new wave fashions into the mainstream. Westwood first came to public notice when she started making clothes for Malcolm McLaren's boutique in the King's Road. Together they synthesised music and clothing, helping to shape the 1970's punk scene, which was dominated by McLaren's band, The Sex Pistols. Westwood's edgy style, inspired by the shock value of punk, still continues to influence her designs, which span across a wide range of shops and merchandise.
Vivienne Westwood has been awarded the OBE and DBE and has twice been honoured with British Designer of the Year.
